NATIONAL CONGRESS OF VIETNAM OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE ASSOCIATION TERM 2024-2029 WAS A GREAT SUCCESS
On September 12, 2024, the Vietnam Occupational Medicine Association held its congress for the 2024 - 2029 term in Hanoi, marking an important milestone in the Association's activities.
Attending the congress were more than 100 delegates representing provincial and municipal branches, the Department of Health Environment Management, Research Institutes, Centers for Disease Control, Centers for Occupational Health Protection, and representatives of Universities and Academies with related fields.
Representatives of management levels attending the congress included Mr. Pham Trung Giang - Deputy Director of the Department of Non-Governmental Organizations - Ministry of Home Affairs; Mr. Trinh Dinh Hai - Vice President of the Vietnam Medical Association.
The Congress presented a Summary Report on the Association's activities for the 2018-2023 term and directions and tasks for the 2024-2029 term. The Congress's documents were elaborately prepared, highlighting the aspects of activities in which the Association has actively participated, such as social criticism in the development of policy documents in the field of occupational medicine; completed programs and tasks, including many contents on protecting and caring for workers' health and achieving new developments. At the same time, the report pointed out limitations and shortcomings as well as drew lessons for the Association to make progress in the new term.

The delegates discussed openly and democratically with the goal of making the Vietnam Occupational Medicine Association a truly social-professional organization that unites members and fulfills its social responsibilities, an organization that gathers the intelligence and a large number of experts in the field of occupational medicine, with prestige to effectively participate in the work of protecting and caring for workers' health in the period of production, business development and international integration.
The Congress reached a high consensus and concentration to elect the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Occupational Medicine Association for the 2024-2029 term, consisting of 41 members; and the Inspection Committee consisting of 5 members. Many members of the Executive Committee have participated in the Executive Committee since the previous term.

The first meeting of the Executive Committee elected the President of the Association, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Tu, former Deputy Director of the Department of Preventive Medicine, a prestigious expert in the field of occupational medicine.

The positions of Vice President and General Secretary include experts and some current leaders in the field. The Standing Vice President is Dr. Le Thanh Hai - Director of the Institute of Occupational Health and Environment; Vice President and General Secretary is Dr. Nguyen Phuc Thai - Former Deputy Director in charge of the Military Institute of Preventive Medicine; The remaining Vice Presidents include: Associate Professor, Dr. Luong Mai Anh - Director of the Department of Medical Environment Management; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Nga - Former Deputy Director of the Institute of Occupational Medicine and Environmental Hygiene; Dr. Bui Duc Nhuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Labor Safety (Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs); Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Son - Deputy Director of the Institute of Occupational Health and Environment.

Speaking at the congress, Mr. Pham Trung Giang - Deputy Director of the Department of Non-Governmental Organizations - Ministry of Home Affairs highly appreciated the activities of the Association, congratulated the new Executive Committee consisting of experienced and enthusiastic experts, who will lead the Association to stronger development in the coming period.

Mr. Trinh Dinh Hai - Vice President of the Vietnam Medical Association congratulated the success of the Congress, commended the achievements and results that the associations and members at all levels have achieved in the past term. At the same time, he suggested that in the coming term, the associations at all levels need to pay attention and focus on effectively implementing the set goals and plans.

After the working session at the Congress, 100% of the delegates voted to pass the Congress resolution with the main goal: To be proactive, creative, and innovative in operating methods, to build and develop the Vietnam Occupational Medicine Association to become increasingly stronger, to build a team of cadres with good professional expertise, dedicated to the profession, for the purpose of caring for and protecting the health of workers, to improve the quality and efficiency of the Association's operations, to develop the Vietnam Occupational Medicine Association to new heights, to contribute worthily to the cause of social development and international integration.
